GE Hitachi Inc. has awarded Inspector Systems the contract to develop and manufacture various ultrasonic test robots for determining the wall thickness of underground pipelines.
The test robots will mainly be deployed in the nuclear power station sector in the USA. The technology is designed so that they can travel through dry and water-filled pipelines with bends and vertical sections up to a total length of 300 metres.
"We are proud that as a German company will be developing pipe robots for one of the world’s largest technology companies based in the USA which will be used in the sensitive sections of American nuclear power station. This shows that our expertise in the field of pipe robot technology is unrivalled and is an additional incentive to further advance our technological leadership".
